Benoît Blanc might have one less mystery to solve, as Knives Out fans believe they’ve identified the next murderer.
The excitement for the franchise has heightened with news that Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jeremy Renner, and Mila Kunis are joining the cast of Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man.
Although details about the new characters are under wraps, some fans think they’ve spotted a pattern in the killer’s identity.
“Waiting to hear which actor from an MCU movie is in Knives Out 3 so I know who the killer is,” wrote one fan after Renner’s involvement was announced.
For context, the first Knives Out movie revealed Chris Evans’ character, Hugh Ransom Drysdale, as the killer. Evans is famous for playing Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the second film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Edward Norton’s character, Miles Bron, was the murderer. Norton previously played Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk before being replaced by Mark Ruffalo.
In Wake Up Dead Man, Jeremy Renner is the only cast member with a Marvel background, known for his role as Clint Barton/Hawkeye in various Avengers movies and the Disney+ series Hawkeye.
Director Rian Johnson, who also writes and produces the films, has confirmed he wants to continue expanding the franchise, centered around Daniel Craig’s detective character, Benoît Blanc.
